IQAC Training Workshop Inaugurated at CU

The Training Workshop on “Oceanic Regional Modeling with CROCO-ROMS”, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Chittagong, has officially commenced in the virtual classroom of the ICT Cell in the Faculty of Engineering. The workshop was inaugurated with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, Director of IQAC, University of Chittagong.

The workshop is being led by Dr. Tonia Astrid Capuano, an International Technical Expert in Oceanography from the French governmental agency, Expertise France.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Muslem Uddin, Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the University of Chittagong, is serving as the coordinator for the training and moderating the sessions.

Thirty enthusiastic participants from ten different departments and institutes, including the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Biological Sciences, are actively participating in the training as trainees to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in the field of oceanic regional modeling.

The two-day long workshop began with an overview of numerical modeling, followed by hands-on sessions where participants will configure simulations, build nested configurations, and run interannual simulations. These practical sessions are designed to provide participants with the essential tools and knowledge needed to conduct their own oceanographic modeling.

The training will conclude tomorrow evening with a speech and the distribution of certificates by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University of Chittagong, who will be the Chief Guest. The event will be followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Additional Director of IQAC, University of Chittagong.
