Biography
Mohd Omar Faruk Sikder, both an alumnus and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, University of Chittagong, has been honored as a recipient of a 2020 Fellowship from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
This esteemed fellowship, awarded by the nation’s oldest and most discerning collegiate honor society spanning all disciplines in the USA, is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and competitive accolades for Ph.D. researchers in the country. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Omar specializes in biomedical science with a focus on genetics, biochemistry, cellular, and molecular biology. His research is centered on investigating the role of the amino acid transporter SLC6A14 in colon cancer.
